Property Tax payments must be turned in by Sept. 30
Property taxes were due on Sept. 1, but payments are still without penalty until Sept. 30. Payments should be made to the Hamilton County Treasurers office.
Washington, DC, trip explained at Sept. 30 meeting
A trip to the nation’s capital is being organized for April 2026. Patsy Brock, who organized the WC to DC trips for over 30 years, will be holding an informational meeting on Tuesday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Sampson room at Fuller Hall Registrations will be needed by Nov. 4.
Central Iowa Junk Jaunt kicks off this weekend
The Central Iowa Junk Jaunt will begin on Friday and continue through Sunday in several Hamilton County communities extending south through Story and Boone counties. Jewell, Stratford and Williams are all part of this year’s event. A map is available by going to www.centraliowajunkjaunt.com The Central Iowa Junk Jaunt is in its 17th year.
Jane Young House exhibits open this weekend
The public is invited to the Saturday Open House at the Jane Young Historic Home. The home, which was moved to allow the Kendall Young Library to expand in the mid 1990s, is located at 629 Elm Street in Webster City. The lower level tour of the home of Kendall and Jane Young and the upper level Clothing Exhibit is available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The theme “Let’s All Go to the Movies!” features four rooms of movie costumes, accessories, and collections of movie memorabilia.

The Third Thursday coffee starts at 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. today at Farm Credit Services of America located at 245 Fair Meadow Drive. This monthly event is an open house and networking event.
Conservation Boards host Fireside Chat featuring flint knapping
The Webster and Hamilton County Conservation Boards will hold a Fireside Chat focusing on flint knapping tonight. This will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Camp WaNoKi, located at 2401 WaNoKi Camp Road in Fort Dodge. Flint knapping is the process of creating stone tools by striking and shaping flint. Participants will have the opportunity to try their hand at making projectile points, blades, or scrapers. “This program offers a fascinating look into the craftsmanship and ingenuity of our ancestors,” said John Laird, Hamilton County naturalist.
