Wreaths Across America ceremony in Stanhope and Stratford Saturday

Two Hamilton County communities will host ceremonies observing Wreaths Across America on Saturday. The ceremony in Stanhope will begin at 11 a.m at the Stanhope Community Center located at 665 Iowa Street. After the ceremony, volunteers will put wreaths on graves at the Liberty Center cemetery, Lawn Hill cemetery and the Evergreen cemetery in Jewell. A second ceremony will be held at 2:30 p.m. in Stratford. This will be held at the Shakespeare Community Center located at 826 Shakespeare Avenue. Hamilton County Conservation board meets next week

The Hamilton County Conservation board will meet next Wednesday, December 17. The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. The meeting will be held in the Conservation Headquarters building located at 2490 Briggs Woods Trail. During the meetings, reports will be given on the parks, wildlife and staff, in addition to the golf course report. The 2026 camping, recreation and golf course rates and related fees will also be discussed, in addition to job descriptions and other personnel issues. In addition, the 2027 fiscal year budget will be reviewed.

Blood Drive at Van Diest Medical Center today

The Webster City Community Blood Drive will be held today from 12:30-5:30 p.m. This will be held at the VanDiest Medical Center Clinic Board Room, located at 2350 Hospital Drive. Appointments are encouraged, and can be made by calling 800-287-4903. Walk-ins are also welcome. Those who donate blood on this day will receive a Scooters cookie and 20% off a Hospital Gift Shop purchase.
