Blood Drive set for Thursday

Webster City Community Blood drive is scheduled for 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Van Diest Medical Center Clinic Board Room, 2350 Hospital Drive. Appointments are encouraged by calling 800-287-4903, but walk-ins are welcome. All blood donors will receive a Scooters cookie and a 20% coupon for the hospital gift shop.

Garden work day in Stanhope on Saturday

The Stanhope Public Library is seeking helpers for the garden work that needs done in the park and around the library. Volunteers are asked to gather at 9 a.m. on Saturday to assist with this project. Bring work gloves and hand tools to assist. For more information contact the library at 515-826-3211.

Registration now open for swimming lessons

The Webster City Parks and Recreation Department has announced that registration is now open for the American Red Cross Swim Lessons. This will be held at the outdoor pool in Webster City, located at 1200 Union St. These lessons are designed for swimmers of all ages and abilities, helping build confidence in the water while learning important swimming and water safety skills. The lessons will be held from June 8 to June 19 for youths between the ages of 5 and 18 years of age. The class size limit is 15 participants per class. WCHS music departments at Large Group festival today

The Webster City High School music department will be heading to North Polk today for the Iowa High School Music Association large group festival. All the high school music groups will be participating in this festival. The North Polk high school is located at 13930 NE Sixth St. in Alleman. The High School band performs at 4:45 p.m., the Treble Singers perform at 5:50 p.m., Lynx Singers perform at 6:35 p.m. and Varsity Singers perform at 8 p.m. Admission cost is $12, seniors $7 and students are $5. Arts R Alive Meet and Greet Reception Tuesday

Arts R Alive in Webster City is hosting a Meet and Greet Reception for Artists from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at West Twin Park Shelter at 1100 Superior St. in Webster City. The artists are installing their pieces in the afternoon and will attend the reception to talk to visitors. Refreshments will be served. If inclement weather the event will be moved to Morning Glory Coffee Shop at 719 Des Moines St.

Wilson Brewer Park museum open this weekend

The Wilson Brewer Park Depot Museum will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. today and Saturday. The Depot is located within the Wilson Brewer Park, at 220 Ohio St. in Webster City. Historic collections about Webster City and Hamilton County are on display throughout the building. The museum will be open most weekends through the summer until Oct. 31 during these hours.
