STORY CITY – The Webster City volleyball team opened the 2026 season with a pair of wins here Monday night.
The Lynx scored a three-set victory over South Hamilton and swept Central Springs, falling in three to host Roland-Story.
"It was great to get out there and see some competition," WCHS head coach Jess Howard said. "You can only learn so much when you are scrimmaging against yourself.
"I felt like we gained a lot of valuable knowledge as we move into our North Central Conference opener on Thursday."
Freshman Allison Arends led the Lynx with 15 kills, while senior Tristyn Wright added 12. Both senior Avery Poppen and junior Jaylyn Bahrenfuss each had 11 kills, with 11th-grader Evie Davis adding 10 to go along with 10 blocks.
Bahrenfuss had 34 assists, 12 digs and three service aces on the night, as Briley VanDeer recorded 17 assists, six digs and an ace.
Wright led Webster City with 18 digs, Tessa Hanson added 17 and Charlee Olson finished with 11. Poppen had a team-leading six aces, as Wright added two.
The Lynx will host Hampton-Dumont/CAL on Thursday before taking part in the St. Edmond Invitational on Saturday. The field for the tournament includes the host Gaels, Aplington-Parkersburg, Bishop Garrigan, Pocahontas Area and Southeast Valley.
