First Congregational UCC gives over $13,000 in scholarships

The First Congregational UCC presented over $13,000 in scholarships last Sunday during the regular church services. Scholarship Sunday occurs each summer, with funds distributed to those who have a family connection to the church members. Each student receiving funds updates the congregation as to their course of study, school attending, and plans after graduation.
Scholarships awarded are as follows:
The Bess Lyon scholarship was $320 for each applicant. This scholarship was awarded to Hailey Brim, Tori Metzgar, Lucy Midtling, Zach Midtling, Lucas Stearns and Lauren Stirling
The Helen Poole scholarship of $1,300 was awarded to Shelby Brim.
The Ptacek Medical Careers scholarship was for $800 each. This was awarded to Breanna Bahrenfuss, Delcuia Franco de Burgos, Bralea Metzger, Addison Stearns and Natalie Stirling.
The Helen Johnson scholarship which was for $1,100 was awarded to Hailey Brim. The $1,800 scholarship was given to Shelby Brim, in addition to $1,800 to Delcia Franco de Burgos.
The scholarship amounts vary from year to year, and are determined based on the interest they have accumulated and number of qualified applicants. Students may apply each year they are enrolled in a course of study, and the scholarships have varying requirements.
