County Supervisors add liquor responsibility and management to Schonert agreement

During the Tuesday morning meeting of the Hamilton County Supervisors, the supervisors approved an agreement with Schonert Corporate Catering to take over the management of the alcohol license at the Briggs Woods Conference Center starting in 2027.

Schonert was approved in June to manage the food and beverage operation of the Briggs Woods Conference Center beginning August 1.

"This is kind of an extension of the management agreement," explained Supervisor April Ely, "It was looked by our attorneys and it took a bit longer because we do share an alcohol license with the Golf Course is all," she continued "This agreement is just an adjustment with the management agreement."

This agreement will shift the responsibility of purchasing and maintaining the inventory of the alcohol distributed through the facility.

Young said he was very pleased with the work Ely had put into the contract with Schonert, noting that she had put in countless hours to work out the agreements.

"This is the final connection for the conference center," said Chairman Rick Young. "We have a liquor license shared with the golf course until Dec. 31, after that the responsibility of liquor purchases and management (at the conference center) will be Schonerts."

Young said he is not aware of the loss of any future events at the Conference Center.

"He is bringing business to the facility," he continued, "We are working with him to schedule events."

Young said the staffing at the conference center will no longer be county employees.

"We will get the rental fees for the facility, and no longer have any overhead," he said.

Young said Schonert will do all the marketing and scheduling.

Earlier in the meeting, Paul Moberly also addressed the supervisors, distributing information and giving a brief summary of concerns for county development. He was assured by Young that anything they addressed would be made public before moving forward with any approvals.
