South Hamilton aims to stay perfect

GILBERT — The fifth-ranked (Class 1A) South Hamilton football team looks to make it 3-for-3 to begin the season here Friday night vs. South Hardin.

The Hawks (3-0 overall) entered the AP Top-10 on the heels of a convinving win over West Marshall last week, 48-13. They ran for almost 500 yards on the ground, led by a 186-yard, two-TD performance from Nick Severseike.

Over two games, Severseike has rushed for 297 yards with three touchdowns on just 22 carries. Noah Gunderson has 150 yards and two scores while Ashton Williams has 101 with a TD.

All total, South Hamilton has rushed 90 times for 802 yards with 10 touchdowns, averaging just under nine yards per carry.

Owen Renaud leads the defense with a pair of sacks while Gunderson has 11.5 tackles and Williams 10.

Roland-Story (1-1) topped South Tamas in Week 1 before falling to No. 3 (3A) Nevada last Friday, 42-7. Senior Hesston Johnson has 243 yards rushing and four touchdowns with junior quarterback Sam Knoll throwing for 246 yards and one TD to Jonovan Wilkinson, who leads the team with five receptions for 111 yards.
