Lynx boys win by two strokes

The Webster City boys golf squad edged Carroll Kuemper and Panorama to open its season. The Lynx carded a 161, finishing just ahead of the Knights (163) and Panthers (165). Webster City’s Cael Nixon and Luke Firsching both carded two-over par 38s on the front nine to tie for second behind only Parker Cary of Panorama (37). Cole Miller (40) and Dawson Bertran (45) followed for the Lynx. Nixon recorded seven pars and two bogeys. Firsching birdied the second hole and had five pars to go with three bogeys. Lynx fare well at Bunn Relays

HUMBOLDT — The Webster City boys track and field team capped off the week with a strong showing at the Charlie Bunn Relays hosted by Humboldt last Friday night. Justin Callahan and Jaxon Griffith both walked away with race titles, as Callahan won the 400 in 51.98 and Griffith the 110 hurdles in 15.52. Callahan was also the runner-up in the 1,600. EAGLE GROVE — The Webster City girls track and field team placed fifth here Thursday night at the Lady Eagle Relays. The Webster City boys soccer team continued their strong start to the season here Thursday night, besting Hampton-Dumont/CAL in North Central Conference action, 4-2. An early goal gave the Lynx (3-0 overall, 2-0 in league) the lead, as Israel Torres found the back of the net off an assist by Francisco Ramirez Carmona.
