Lynx girls fall short vs. Wildcats

HUMBOLDT — The Webster City girls battled to keep it close with Humboldt here Friday night in North Central Conference play. In the end, though, the Wildcats had too many weapons, as they posted a 59-36 victory. The Lynx trailed by just three after the opening quarter, but Humboldt went on a 15-6 run in the second to go up 30-18 at the break. They outscored Webster City in the third, 14-10, as Morgan Mann posted a game-high 24 points. For the Lynx, Olivia Gallentine had 16 points. Webster City hosts Iowa Falls-Alden on Tuesday and travels to Algona next Friday.

Lynx can't catch Bulldogs

Hawk girls drop tight 46-45 tilt

JEWELL — The South Hamilton girls dropped a tough 46-45 decision to Saydel here Tuesday night. In a back-and-forth affair, the Eagles were able to get the winning points, as Paige Rumman scored 22 with 15 rebounds. With the loss, the Hawks suffered their fourth defeat in the last five games, with this one being the closest yet. Saydel, meanwhile, has won four of its last five overall. South Hamilton heads to Grand View Christian on Friday night.

Eagles too much for Hawk boys

JEWELL — The South Hamilton boys were unable to overcome a big run by Saydel in the second and third quarters here Tuesday night, falling 65-28. The Eagles outscored the Hawks during those 16 minutes of play, 42-10, opening up the contest following a tight first quarter. With the win, Saydel snapped its two-game losing skid. Wynkoop places 2nd for Lynx

PERRY — The Webster City and South Hamilton wrestling teams competed here Saturday against several ranked teams at the Perry Invitational. West Delaware finished ahead of Sergeant Bluff-Luton and Carlisle for team gold as the Lynx were 10th overall and the Hawks finished 15th. Gavin Wynkoop reached the 132-pound final, falling to Jayden Zachary of West Des Moines Dowling. Wynkoop picked up a major decision and a decision to reach the championship match.
