GRUNDY CENTER — The Webster City girls tennis team split a triangular here last Friday with Grundy Center and Oelwein. After falling to the host Spartans, 5-4, the Lynx swept singles to defeat Oelwein, 6-0. Allie Severe, Alivia Burns and Gabbie Sebert each went 2-0 on the day, as the trio earned wins at the Top-3 singles positions. The Webster City girls tennis team opened North Central Conference play here Tuesday with a convincing 7-2 win over Iowa Falls-Alden. Allie Severe, Gabbie Sebert, Natalie Segar, Sylvia Otteros and Olivia Bergman were all singles winners. Severe pulled out a win in a super-tiebreaker at the No. 1 position for the Lynx over Jordyn Carpenter. The Webster City girls tennis team opened play here last Friday with a triangular against Ballard and Dike-New Hartford. After besting Ballard, 6-3, the Lynx fell to perennial state contender Dike-New Hartford, 7-2. Sylvia Otteros went 2-0 on the day, earning a pair of wins at the No. 6 singles spot.
