JEWELL — Jesus Garcia extended his cross country season by another week, securing a spot in the upcoming Class 1A championships with a strong showing at a state-qualifying meet. Garcia placed sixth overall to advance as an individual qualifier. The 1A state race takes place Saturday in Fort Dodge. The Hawks have added a ninth game with Eagle Grove after both were eliminated from postseason contention. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. here Friday night.
