Lynx baseball tops Mustangs

The Webster City baseball team picked up a 7-5 victory over Newell-Fonda here last Friday night. Braylon Dyvig drove in three runs with a pair of doubles, Carter Mickelson had two RBI and earned the win on the mound in relief, and Matthew Tesdahl added an RBI at the plate with three runs scored. Tesdahl also struck out five in just over four innings of work. Gavin Griffith scored twice. Last Saturday, the Lynx dropped a pair of games to Urbandale in Rippey at Walt Anderson Field. City turns to bonds to finance Fair Meadow Drive Project

The City Council of Webster City voted unanimously Monday to finance Phase 2 of the Fair Meadow Drive rehabilitation and buy a street sweeper and snowplow with a new bond issue. At a cost of $1.94 million, the Fair Meadow Drive project, which will see the busy thoroughfare on the city’s south side completely rebuilt this summer, is the most expensive item in the plan. Lynx softball takes NCC opener

CLARION — The Webster City softball team picked up a win in their North Central Conference opener here last Friday, blasting Clarion-Goldfield/Dows, 9-0 in five innings. Jaylyn Bahrenfuss and Morgan Hackbarth each recorded two hits and drove in a pair while Jakaela Cherry and Breanna Bahrenfuss both had an RBI. Cherry, who earned the win inside the circle, recorded 12 strikeouts and allowed just one hit with three walks.
