STORY CITY — The South Hamilton volleyball team started the year off with three matches here Monday at the Roland-Story Early Bird quadrangular. After falling in straight sets to both seventh-ranked (Class 3A) Roland-Story and Webster City, the Hawks picked up a sweep vs. Central Springs. In the match with Central Springs, South Hamilton earned sets by scores of 21-18 and 21-14. They lost to Roland-Story, 21-13, 21-8, and Webster City, 21-8, 21-17. BOONE — The Webster City girls tennis team competed at the Boone Invitational here Friday, taking a pair of second-place finishes on the day. Sylvia Otteros went 2-1 at No. 2 singles to score silver, as did the doubles team of Allie Severe and Alivia Burns. CLEAR LAKE — The Webster City girls tennis team got back on track here Tuesday with a 6-3 victory over Clear Lake. Allie Severe, Alivia Burns, Gabbie Sebert, Sylvia Otteros and Olivia Bergman gave the Lynx control of the North Central Conference dual by taking five of the six singles matches.
