Humboldt fights off Lynx in softball

The Webster City softball team dropped a tight 7-5 decision here Monday night to North Central Conference rival Humboldt in eight innings. After taking an early 4-1 lead, the Lynx were unable to keep the Wildcats off the scoreboard in the fifth and eighth innings. Humboldt countered to grake a 5-4 advantage with a four-run fifth, but Webster City quickly responded in the bottom of the sixth to tie it. Rampage tryouts coming up for 2026 campaign

The Webster City Rampage Baseball Club will have its first round of player evaluations for the upcoming season on Tuesday, June 24, at Nokomis Field. Tryouts are open to all boys ages 8-13 interested in competing for Rampage in the 2026 season. The club is “dedicated to fostering skill development, sportsmanship and a love of the game among youth players in the Webster City community,” according to a Rampage press release. Lynx fall twice to ranked opponents

The Webster City softball squad faced two ranked challenges to christen the Dave Hilton Classic over the weekend, as the Lynx dropped games to Carlisle and Martensdale St. Marys. The sixth-ranked (Class 4A) Wildcats pulled away from WCHS on Friday, winning 11-2. The Lynx plated two runs in the first inning, but it was all Carlisle from there. POCAHONTAS — The Webster City baseball team finished off the week with a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to Pocahontas Area here last Friday night. After taking a 2-1 lead with a pair of runs in the sixth, the Lynx saw the Indians escape, winning it in walk-off fashion with two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
