Lynx volleyball continues surge

By Chris Johnson 2 min read

HAMPTON -- The Webster City volleyball team picked up two victories on Tuesday night.

The surging Lynx (18-9 overall) knocked off Eagle Grove (25-10 and 25-5). They also defeated St. Edmond (25-23 and 25-20).

Webster City has now won seven of its last eight matches.

"I thought the girls did a good job of keeping our tempo up instead of (letting) the tempo of our opponent dictate the pace," said WCHS head coach Jess Howard. "We were able to maintain our composure."

Leading the Lynx in kills on the night was Tristyn Wright with 12. Allison Arends and Avery Poppen added six each, while Evie Davis also had six.

Jaylyn Bahrenfuss dished out 21 assists and Elsie Pruismann had 14.

Tessa Hansen finished with 18 digs, with Izzy Weinschenk contributing nine and Wright tallying eight. Davis had seven blocks and Bahrenfuss had four.

From the service line, Hansen was 20-for-20 with five aces. Bahrenfus was 19-for-22 with five aces. Wright was 17 of 19 with three aces.

"(In the St. Edmond match), we were ahead most of the way and we got two big leads," Howard said. "They were able to make it closer, but we maintained and stretched it out as much as possible."

The Lynx are back in action next Tuesday when they travel to Fort Dodge and take on the Dodgers.
