SIOUX CENTER – Coming off their first win of the season, the Webster City football team takes on Sioux Center in a district clash.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Open Space Athletic Complex.
The Lynx (1-4 overall, 1-0 in district) topped long-time North Central Conference rival Humboldt last week, 21-7. Kaleb Hansen ran for 87 yards and two short touchdowns, as Coyce Bertran added 48 and a TD.
Webster City rushed for 171 yards in a ball-control offense, putting together a game-opening drive that spanned nearly 10 minutes and resulted in the first Hansen score.
The defense forced four turnovers, including interceptions by Bertran and Grayson Simonton. Grant Arends and Edwin Ramos Nolasco both recovered fumbles.
Sioux Center (5-0, 1-0) opened district play with a 32-30 victory over Bishop Heelan, a state finalist a year ago. The Warriors also own wins over Spencer, Le Mars, Sheldon and Unity Christian, averaging 36 points per game.
Ezra Hibma, a senior, has thrown for 848 yards and seven touchdowns, adding 692 yards rushing and 11 more TDs. He has been picked off six times and is completing under 55 percent of his throws.
Tate Swager has 409 yards rushing and four touchdowns, as Parker Smit is the leading receiver with 19 receptions for 446 yards and five TDs.
The two teams met for the first time last year, with Sioux Center winning 42-28.
