The Webster City football team returns to Lynx Field for Homecoming this Friday night.

Awaiting them will be Bishop Heelan, a state runner-up a season ago.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Last week, Webster City (1-5 overall, 1-1 in district) fell to fourth-ranked Sioux Center on the road, 56-21. They have now scored 42 points over the last two weeks after being held to just 32 in the first four games combined.

Senior Kaleb Hansen anchors the ground attack, rushing 152 times for 563 yards and seven touchdowns. Classmate Coyce Bertran has 269 and a score, as sophomore Grayson Simonton has 118 yards rushing.

The Webster City defense is anchored by Grant Arends and Boston Farley. Arends, a senior, has 27 tackles with 5.5 for loss while Farley, a junior, has 26 with 4.5 for loss. Arends has forced three fumbles and recovered two, with Simonton picking off two passes.

While the Lynx prefer to grind it out with the rush, Bishop Heelan (3-3, 1-1) leans on senior quarterback Elijah Mielke. He has completed 54 percent of his passes for 1,107 yards with seven touchdowns, adding four rushing scores.

Grant Whitcomb has 17 receptions for 443 yards and three TDs, as Prince Weagbah has 13 for 236 and three touchdowns.

As a team, the Crusaders have forced 12 turnovers and recorded nine sacks. Reid Herbold has made seven field goals and is 16-for-17 on extra point attempts.
