Webster City splits in home volleyball triangular

The Webster City volleyball team went the distance with North Central Conference Pride Division leader Garner-Hayfield/Ventura here on Thursday night.
After splitting a pair of two-point sets, the Lynx came up just short vs. the 15th-ranked and unbeaten Cardinals (23-0 overall, 7-0 in the NCC) in the third. Scores were 26-24, 26-28 and 15-7.
Webster City earned a sweep over Forest City earlier in the evening.
"The girls played strong and it was good to see them being aggressive and confident," WCHS head coach Jess Howard said. "They did a lot of really good things on the court and are continuing to improve each time they compete."
Avery Poppen had seven kills and Tristyn Wright six in the battle with Garner-Hayfield/Ventura. Evie Davis added four kills and 11 total blocks, including three solos.
Jaylyn Bahrenfuss had 10 assists and Elsie Pruismann six. Bahrenfuss added 16 digs, with both Wright and Pruismann each recording seven. Tessa Hansen chipped in eight digs and Allison Arends had four blocks.
Wright, Pruismann and Hansen were each 100 percent serving.
In a 25-20, 25-14 victory over Forest City, Bahrenfuss had six kills, Arends five and Poppen four. Bahrenfuss added eight assists and Pruismann six.
Hansen had a team-high 11 digs, with Davis recording three blocks.
The Lynx (11-8, 2-5) host Charles City on Thursday for Senior Night where they will honor Kaitlyn Winkler, Lovie Pruismann, Hayden McCoy, Wright, Charlee Olson, Poppen and Amanda Lahr.
