The Webster City girls tennis team finished off a busy week with an impressive 6-3 victory over Nevada here last Thursday.
The Lynx claimed four of the six singles matches, with Gabbie Sebert, Chloe Bakken, Abby Heckert and Haylee Ades each picking up victories. Sebert and Bakken both won by matching scores of 6-0, 6-0. Ades won, 6-1, 6-1.
Heckert secured a comeback win, taking the second set before winning the third in a super-tiebreaker, 12-10.
"Really happy with the way the girls keep improving," WCHS head coach Mark Fisher said. "Saw a lot of progress on the courts from both the varsity and the junior varsity. It's been nice watching the confidence grow along with the tennis (getting better).
"I think back to where we were in early August and this team has come a long way. I thought we did a great job of jumping out to early leads and staying locked in as opposed to taking points off."
In doubles, Bakken and Olivia Bergman, along with Ades and Ava Otteros, were straight-set winners.
Paisyn Bare and Lizzie Westrum, Elizabeth Van Demark and Brielle Burgin, Ava Ely and Sarahi Terrazas, Dayana Rodriguez and Kairi Toney, Delaney Lyons and Ava Campbell, and Harper Taylor and Greenlee Williams were junior varsity doubles winners, as Miley Mason, Bare, Van Demark and Westrum each earned a singles win.
Webster City will host St. Edmond on Tuesday.
