JEWELL – The South Hamilton football team couldn’t slow Southeast Valley on Friday, falling 54-0.
The Jaguars raced out to a 20-0 lead in the first quarter, scoring four more touchdowns in the second to lead by 48 at the intermission.
For the Hawks (1-2 overall), Wyatt Gelder ran for 91 yards on 21 carries. Garrett Johnson completed three passes, with both Kaden Dean and Reggie Williams each recording four tackles on defense.
Dean had two tackles for loss.
"We came out flat and weren't able to respond," South Hamilton head coach Cole Billerbeck said. "We had a couple of nice drives going when the game was within striking distance, but weren't able to capitalize. The defense wasn't able to get off the field on a big fourth-down.
"Southeast Valley is a good team and has a lot of good athletes, so I want to give them credit. They played hard."
The Jaguars are now a perfect 3-0. Southeast Valley is a Class 2A program; the Hawks are in 1A.
South Hamilton welcomes in East Sac County (3-0) this Friday to Taylor Field for the start of 1A, District 2 play. The Raiders bested MVAOCOU last week, 29-14.
