JEWELL – The South Hamilton football team will look for its first win over Panorama since 2017 here Friday night.

The Hawks (0-1 overall) opened the season with a 55-7 setback to defending Class A state runner-up St. Ansgar last week. Wyatt Gelder, a junior, ran 11 times for 69 yards with a touchdown, as senior Kaden Dean added 35 yards.
South Hamilton put up 135 yards rushing as a team on 41 totes.
Dean led the defense with four tackles and a forced fumble, as Garret Rogers had three tackles. Josh Sandgren made his lone extra point attempt and averaged over 31 yards per punt.
Last year, the Panthers (0-2) scored a 28-22 victory over South Hamilton. The Hawks won in 2017, 18-15, and lost in 2016, 42-17.
Panorama (0-2) has played twice, falling to ACGC (53-7) and Southwest Valley (35-18). Cruz Crandall has 206 passing yards and three touchdowns in two games, as Reed Draper is his favorite target with seven receptions for 121 yards and all three scores.
The Panthers have just 37 yards rushing as a team on 44 carries.
