HUMBOLDT – The Webster City volleyball team couldn’t get over the hump against top-ranked (Class 3A) Humboldt on Thursday.
The Lynx (7-3 overall) lost in straight sets on the road to the Wildcats. Scores were 25-15, 25-19 and 25-14.
"We definitely had moments where we were doing good things," said WCHS head coach Jess Howard. "The consistency factor wasn't there in long enough stretches, and we weren't able to come out on top."
Jaylyn Bahrenfuss led Webster City with 10 digs. Tristyn Wright was 16-for-17 attacking with three kills.
Evie Davis was 14 of 15 attacking with four kills. Allison Arends was 9-for-15 attacking with three kills.
"We did good when we would keep our offense fast and had them second guessing a little. That played to our advantage and we would start to get them out of their rhythm," Howard said. "In the second game, we were right there until the end."
From the service line, Briley VanDeer was 8-for-8 with two aces. Bahrenfuss was 8 of 10 with two aces.
The Lynx are back in action on Thursday at Clarion-Goldfield/Dows. It’s a quadrangular against the Cowgirls, Hampton-Dumont/CAL and Iowa Falls-Alden.
