Webster City hosts annual cross country invite

WEBSTER CITY -- The Webster City cross country teams hosted the Lynx Invitational on Tuesday.
Due to weather conditions and a heat index nearing 100 degrees, the format of the event was adjusted. Junior Varsity races were canceled and squads were allowed 10 varsity runners.
The Webster City boys placed sixth with 148 points in the Purple Division. Top-ranked Gilbert (23) was the champion. Nevada (73) was second.
Junior Dan Murillo-Delfin (18:22.11) was the top runner for the Lynx, placing 15th. Aiden Wardell (18:59.6) was 25th and eighth-grader Max Barrick (19:40.26) placed 35th. Kaleb Draeger (19:48.37 in 35th) and Jordan Betts (20:05.75 in 39th) followed.
The Webster City lineup was completed by Grayson Henderson (21:07.80) in 54th place, Tariq Burton (21:18.16 in 57th), Ben Barner (21:26.18 in 60th), Kade Kruger (61st in 21:28.98) and Enrique Brito Ceto (21:51.68 in 63rd).
The Lynx girls finished sixth with 125 points in the Purple Division. Ballard (23) was the winner, and Gilbert (63) the runner-up.
Senior Izzy Grossoehme (22:40.10) was the top-finisher in 14th place. Eighth-grader Lyla Brookshire (23:43.22) took 18th.
Ru Andrade-Murillo (25:26.23) was 26th for Webster City. Quynn Pruismann (27:14.45) crossed in 38th.
Marlene Saavedra Mendoza (27:35.85) placed 40th as the final counter.
The Lynx timecard was completed by Haedyn Soesbee (28:16.85 in 44th), Megan Vandeer (28:33.27 in 46th) and Mckenna Buakham (29:17.72 in 49th).
