SAYDEL – The Webster City girls tennis team scored a 5-3 victory over Saydel here Saturday in Class 1A team regional play.
With the win, the Lynx earned a rematch vs. North Central Conference champion St. Edmond in Fort Dodge on Wednesday.
"Really proud of the way the girls played," WCHS head coach Mark Fisher said. "Every player on the court dealt with at least a little bit of adversity at some point in their matches, and they found ways to lock in and make the adjustments they needed to make both mentally and physically.
"The girls were really locked in from the time we got into the van to head down to (the Des Moines area). It was another good example of the progress they have made over the past couple months of the season."
Gabbie Sebert, Chloe Bakken, Haylee Ades and Elizabeth Van Demark all picked up wins in singles, and Webster City clinched the dual with a doubles victory by Ades and Ava Otteros.
Sebert, Bakken, Ades and Van Demark all won in straight sets, as did Ades and Otteros in doubles.
Bakken and Van Demark led their doubles match in the second set when it was stopped due to the dual being decided.
Bakken and Van Demark are eighth-graders for Fisher.
"It's been fun to watch the chemistry and play keep improving with Haylee and Ava," Fisher said. "This was the first time Chloe and Elizabeth had played together and they had great chemistry right away, too."
The Lynx and Gaels square off at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Dodger Courts.
