CHARLES CITY – The Webster City girls tennis team scored a resounding 8-1 decision over Charles City here Tuesday evening.
Gabbie Sebert, Chloe Bakken, Olivia Bergman, Abby Heckert and Haylee Ades claimed singles victories, and the Lynx also swept the doubles competition.
Sebert rolled 8-0 at the No. 2 spot. Bakken dropped just two games at No. 3. Ades won by a score of 8-4, with both Bergman and Hackert posting 8-5 victories.
"Another solid win for the girls," WCHS head coach Mark Fisher said. "I was a little worried about being flat after two matches in the heat on Monday, but I thought the team did a great job of locking in right away.
"The energy was good, they made great adjustments, played tactically sound and were more fearless in big points. It's good to see that progress continue as the season goes on."
In doubles, Natalie Segar and Sebert posted a 8-5 triumph. Bakken and Bergman won, 8-6.
Ades and Ava Otteros earned a victory after their opponents retired during the first set.
Paisyn Bare and Lizzie Westrum, Miley Mason and Ava Ely, Elizabeth Van Demark and Brielle Burgin, and Maddex Lehman and Grace Andrews were winners in junior varsity doubles matches.
Webster City hosts Nevada on Thursday night.
