Hawks can’t slow unbeaten Raiders

JEWELL – The short-handed South Hamilton football team had trouble slowing down East Sac County here Friday night, falling 37-6.
Kash Northrop ran for a team-high 79 yards and Reggie Williams added 70 for the Hawks, who were without star running back Wyatt Gelder. Garrett Johnson rushed for 66 yards and scored the lone touchdown.
Johnson also completed a pass to Williams.
The undefeated Raiders (5-0 overall) had 317 yards rushing and 173 yards passing on the evening.
"We started a little slow defensively and couldn't get off the field when we needed to," South Hamilton head coach Cole Billerbeck said. "We had some young guys thrown into spots due to injuries, and they showed flashes, but we just couldn't make the plays consistently both offensively and defensively.
"I thought we picked up the intensity in the second half and those young guys were able to settle in. East Sac County is a good team and they have some good athletes, and unfortunately, another slow start hurt us again."
Davien Henderson led South Hamilton with seven tackles and added a sack as well. Benjamin Swenson recorded six tackles, two for loss and a sack. Both Swenson and Cooper Stuck each recovered fumbles.
The Hawks (1-4) host Pocahontas Area on Friday night. The Indians lost to Manson Northwest Webster last week.
