MASON CITY – Jesus Garcia earned a fifth-place finish overall here on Tuesday at the Riverhawk Invitational to lead the South Hamilton cross country squad.
Garcia had a time of 17:31 – a minute behind of race winner Henry Hansen from Mason City. The Riverhawks were champs, and the Hawks placed ninth overall out of the field of 13 programs.
Jackson Olmstead was 22nd overall, Jacob Lutjen finished 55th, John Sandgren 77th and Kaden Greenlee 82nd.
The Hawk girls finished 12th overall. Des Moines Roosevelt was the team champ, and Alexis Mujica of Mason City Newman won the race.
Jillian Bentley placed 41st to lead the way, as the junior posted a time of 23:58. Cici Herrick was 45th, Rosemary Chamness finished 81st, Lexi Mathes was 87th and Laurel Johnson 90th.
South Hamilton is right back in action, competing Thursday at Roland-Story.
