BACK ON THE FIELD

FORT DODGE – The Webster City football team makes the short trip west to face Fort Dodge here Friday night.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Dodger Stadium.

Last week, the Lynx (0-1 overall) fell to Iowa Falls-Alden, 32-5. Coyce Bertran rushed for a team-high 82 yards on 13 carries, as the team had 187 yards on 48 carries.

Kaleb Hansen added 62 yards and Alex Staley 39, and both Bertan and Staley completed a pass.

Israel Torres and Peyton Weisberg each recorded a sack on defense, as Grant Arends tallied a team-high seven tackles. Torres successfully made a 21-yard field goal and averaged over 46 yards per punt.

Webster City will play three of its first four games on the road.

The Dodgers (1-0) piled up over 400 yards of total offense in a 36-6 victory over Mason City on the road. Tru McBride, a Wayne State commit, had 243 yards passing and two touchdowns passing while running in two more.

Will McElroy ran for 127 yards and a TD, adding a receiving touchdown. Six other Fort Dodge players caught at least one pass, with Spencer Smith hauling in a score.

The Lynx won the first four meetings between the two schools from 2021-24 before falling last year, 7-6. They scored at least 35 points in all four of those wins.
