Webster City girls tennis head coach Mark Fisher knows the results will come.
In the meantime, Fisher is pleased with the steady progress he is seeing on the court.
The Lynx dropped a North Central Conference dual to Clear Lake here Tuesday, 7-2, as Gabbie Sebert and Haylee Ades picked up singles wins.
Sebert, a senior playing No. 2 for Webster City, bested Maddie Loge, 6-2, 6-1. Ades, also a senior, downed Paige Geitzenauer at the No. 5 spot, 6-2, 6-3.
"I thought in a lot of ways we played some of our best tennis," Fisher said. "I know it sounds like a bit of a broken record when the overall record doesn't come out the way you want it to, but when you consider that we have been routinely playing four-plus hour matches, that is because you are playing a lot of tight games that just aren't going your way.
"If we clean a few things up here and there, we swing those points in our favor and flip the scores. We are seeing progress and that will show up on the scoreboard at some point."
The doubles team of Ades and Ava Otteros forced a super-tiebreaker set in the No. 3 position. Natalie Segar won four games at No. 1 in singles, as did Otteros at No. 4.
Earning junior varsity wins were Lizzie Westrum and Paisyn Bare, Miley Mason and Abby Heckert, Ava Ely and Sarahi Terrazas, Hilary Worden and Maddex Lehman, Kairi Toney and Dayana Rodriguez, Delaney Lyons and Ava Campbell, Elizabeth Van Demark and Terrazas, and Brielle Burgin and Miley Mason.
Webster City heads to Osage on Thursday.
