OSAGE – The Webster City girls tennis team scored a dual victory over Osage here last Thursday evening, 6-3.
Gabbie Sebert, Chloe Bakken, Abby Heckert and Haylee Ades all claimed wins in singles, as the Lynx won two of the three doubles matches. Natalie Segar and Sebert, along with Bakken and Olivia Bergman, were winners on the court.
"So proud of the way the girls came together," WCHS head coach Mark Fisher said. "They have been working hard and improving, but it's always tough when you feel like you're not seeing the results in the win column.
"I thought we played more free and with more energy. It was great to see the togetherness from all of the girls, too, but just supporting each other and staying positive."
Sebert, Bakken, Heckert and Ades each won in straight sets, as Bakken claimed a tiebreaker in her match. Sebert, competing at No. 2, downed Taylor Swenson, 6-2, 6-3, with Bakken winning 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, Heckert posting a 6-3, 6-1 victory, and Ades winning 6-0, 6-1.
Segar and Sebert claimed a super-tiebreaker at the No. 1 doubles position, 6-7, 6-4, (10-4), with Bakken and Bergman winning at No. 2, 6-4, 6-1.
Lizzie Westrum and Paisyn Bare dropped a tough super-tiebreaker set at No. 3 doubles after splitting the first two.
