LYNX STAY IN TITLE HUNT
HAMPTON — The Webster City baseball team took care of business here Monday night vs. Hampton-Dumont/CAL, claiming a North Central Conference sweep.
Scores were 26-6 in four innings and 10-0 in five.
The Lynx can claim a share of the league title with a sweep vs. Iowa Falls-Alden on Thursday. Algona earned its piece of the NCC by taking a doubleheader from St. Edmond Monday night, ending with a 12-2 record.
Webster City (18-8 overall, 10-2 in league) received an eight-RBI effort from Matthew Tesdahl in the opener, as he went 4-for-5 and scored twice. Jaxon Griffith and Braylon Dyvig each drove in three runs with two hits, as Boston Farley had two RBI.
Aiden Hrnicek scored four times, as did Alex Staley. Dyvig struck out five ont he mound and Syrus Willard had a perfect inning, striking out two.
Carter Mickelson was 4-for-4 with six RBI in the nightcap, as Dyvig finished with three hits and scored four times. Griffith also scored four times and Tesdahl earned the win, striking out seven while allowing just two hits.
The Lynx take on Forest City Wednesday at home.
