DFJ photo by Patrick Coons: Jaxon Griffith celebrates with his Webster City teammates after hitting a grand slam during the regular season.

Matthew Tesdahl and Jaxon Griffith helped the Webster City baseball team earn a share of the North Central Conference title this past summer.

For their efforts, both Tesdahl and Griffith were named unanimous all-NCC players, the league announced recently.

Joining Tesdahl and Griffith on the first team for the Lynx was fellow senior Braylon Dyvig. Carter Mickelson, another 12th-grader, made the second squad, with junior Kaleb Hansen earning a spot on the third.

Tesdahl was recognized as a pitcher after going 6-0 in seven NCC starts while striking out 53 batters in 37 innings. He had an 0.95 earned run average, and conference opponents hit just .145 off him.

Griffith hit .450 while driving in 13 and scoring 22 times over 14 league games, adding two home runs and a double, as well as 12 stolen bases.

Dyvig hit .512 with 21 runs scored and 14 RBI, working 12 walks at the plate. He swiped seven bases and had a 3-1 record on the mound with 34 strikeouts and a 2.16 earned run average.

Mickelson went 2-0 with two saves, allowing just one earned run in almost 10 innings pitched with 14 strikeouts. He recorded a .324 batting average with 16 RBI, 13 runs scored and nine steals.

Hansen had 10 hits and 11 RBI, with seven walks in 39 plate appearances.

Dyvig was first among NCC players in batting average and on-base percentage. Tesdahl ranked first in RBI, pitching wins and strikeouts. Mickelson tied for the league lead in saves.
