Hawk teams in action

The South Hamilton softball and baseball teams played Roland this past week.
The softball team (5-16 overall) lost four games at the Roland-Story Kiwanis softball tournament on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday they lost to Interstate 35 (11-0) and Mount Vernon (21-3). Saturday’s losses were to Humboldt 5-1 and Clarinda, 20-1
In the Humboldt contest, the Hawks had seven hits.
Ellie Beaune and Emma Lammers had two hits each. Lammers had a double, while Adelyn Trask also had a two-base knock.
Also recording hits were Lille Ammerman and Emma Ammerman.
Claire Hewitt had the lone RBI.
Against Clarinda Beaune had two hits, while Hewitt had a home run.
In the Mount Vernon game Hewitt had a double and an RBI, while Jillian Hesse and Dallace Oberender also drove in runs.
The tough losses in the tournament were coming off of a 14-3 victory over Clarion-Goldfield-Dows on Thursday.
Beaune had a big game, coming a home run short of the cycle. Beaune recorded a single, double and a triple and drove in three runs.
Hewitt and Allie Neuberger had two hit performances. Lammers and Neuberger drove in three runs each, while Hewitt had two RBI and Trask, and Emma Ammerman had an RBI each.
The Hawk (0-14) baseball team hosted Roland-Story on Friday night.
South Hamilton is still looking for their first victory of the season, after falling to Roland-Story (24-1), 12-1.
South Hamilton’s lone hit was an RBI double from Liam Early that plated Garrett Johnson.
