Webster City girls hit the links at Clear Lake

CLEAR LAKE — The Webster City girls golf team battled through tough conditions to fire a 214 here Monday in North Central Conference action against Clear Lake and Humboldt from Veterans Memorial Golf Club.

The Lions were first with a 182, as the Wildcats placed second by two shots over the Lynx.

Alleyna Dawson led the way for Webster City with a 50. Ellie Peterson shot a 52 and Kenley Koop a 53. Hayden McCoy carded a 59, as Mylie Keller and Carli Jessen each had 60s.

“I thought the seniors (Dawson, Peterson, Koop and Keller) stepped up and did a nice job scoring,” WCHS head coach Jeff Lyons said. “We left Webster City and it was in the 70s and sunny, and by the time we reached Clear Lake, it was cold and windy.”

The Lynx compete at the Eagle Grove Invitational on Thursday in an 18-hole event with the host Eagles, Central Springs, Humboldt and West Fork from Eagle Grove Golf Course.

Starting at $3.46/week.
