Garcia captures 3,200-meter crown for Hawk boys
ALLEMAN — Jesus Garcia led the South Hamilton boys track and field team here on Monday night at the North Polk Co-
Ed Relays.
Garcia won the 3,200-meter run for the Hawks, clocking a time of 10:41, while also placing third in the 1,600.
South Hamilton finished sixth overall in the final standings behind PCM, Nevada, Roland-Story, Greene County and the host Comets.
Hawk Wyatt Gelder was the runner-up in the 100-meter dash (11.30), and teammate Kash Northrop placed third in the 400 (58.14).
Hayden Hill took home a bronze medal in the 3,200 for South Hamilton (11:22.05), while Benjamin Swenson turned in a third-place performance of his own in the shot put (46-6).
Titus Herrick was fourth in the discus for the Hawks (125-2). Jacob Lutjen took sixth in the 400-meter dash (1:01.02). Hill was sixth in the 1600 (5:21.72).
Gelder was seventh in the 200-meter dash, as was Lutjen in the 400-meter low hurdles. Davien Henderson finished seventh in the shot put (40-9).
Next action for South Hamilton is Thursday at the Heart of Iowa Conference meet at Greene County, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
The Hawks will then head to Roland Story on May 14 for a co-ed state qualifying meet.
