Big night for Lynx boys at Boone

BOONE — The Webster City boys track team competed at the Don Howard Invitational here on Thursday night.

The Lynx grabbed six gold medals and four runner-up finishes.

“We had another night of outstanding efforts and performances,” said WCHS head coach Chad Hisler. “Once again, I was happy with our effort. We have had a stretch of a lot of meets in a short time, and I look forward to seeing our kids compete in the NCC championships on Thursday.”

Zack Lahr won the shot put with a throw of 47-10.75. The sprint medley of Jaxon Griffith, Kaleb Hansen, Rylan Stroner and Justin Callahan crossed the tape in 1:36.07 to earn gold.

Aiden Wardell was the 3200-meter champ in 11:14.24.

Griffith, Kaleb Hansen, Stroner, and Callahan won the distance medley (3:41.19).

Jack Barner was the 1600 gold medalist in 4:58.15, while Gabe Thumma was the runner-up in the same event (4:58.83). The quartet of Stroner, Daniel Murillo-Delfin, Kaleb Hansen and Callahan won the 4×400 (3:27.29).

Dane Hansen, Israel Torres, Aiden Hrnicek and Luke Blake took second in the 4×100 (47.62).

The 4×800 quartet of Murillo-Delfin, Thumma, Kaleb Draeger, and Barner was a runner-up in 8:53.03.

Hrnicek, Gavin Wynkoop, Zakiah Christensen and Addison Punkham were silver medalists in the shuttle hurdle relay in 1:14.57.

“We had a number of great performances,” Hisler said. “(In addition to the 10 golds or silvers), we had many other top three performances. I’m happy with their efforts.”

The Lynx are back in action on Thursday when they head to Algona to participate in the North Central Conference meet.
