Webster City’s Coyce Bertran ran away with medalist honors in a home triangular against Fort Dodge St. Edmond and Charles City at Briggs Woods Golf Course on Friday.

Bertran carded a one-over par 37 to pace the Lynx, who turned in a 158 to easily defeat the Gaels (181) and Charles City (183).

The top four scores belonged to Webster City. Joel Kasch and Eian Becker followed Bertran’s efforts with a pair of 40s. Dawson Bertran (41) was right behind.

Coyce Bertran was the steadiest of the lot, though. The No. 2 player in the Lynx lineup recorded six pars, two bogeys and a birdie at the second hole.

“Coyce played great,” WCHS head coach Eric Dawson said. “He earned the (medalist honors).”

Syrus Willard and Matthew Tesdahl rounded out the Lynx’s varsity scorecard with a pair of 44s.

The Comets were led by Bryce Walker’s 42. Ty Mericle (44) had the low round for the Gaels.

Webster City’s junior varsity squad also dominated, shooting a 167 to easily defeat Charles City (200) and St. Edmond (247). Logan Willson (40), Dylan Schroeder (41), Grant Arends (42) and Gavin Malloy (44) took the top four spots for the Lynx.

Webster City returns to action at Algona on Tuesday at Eagle Hills Golf Course. The Lynx, Bulldogs and Iowa Falls-Alden will be on the course beginning at 4:30 p.m.

The North Central Conference meet is Thursday at the Legacy Golf Course in Mason City.

Starting at $3.46/week.
