Webster City boys gain experience at stacked North Polk Invite

ALLEMAN — The Webster City boys track and field team had a strong showing here Tuesday night at the North Polk Invitational.

The Lynx placed seventh overall in a field with several Class 4A powers, including winner West Des Moines Dowling. The host Comets were second, followed by Johnston, Ankeny, Roland-Story and Ballard.

Justin Callahan won two individual events and ran on a winning relay for Webster City. The senior was first in the 400-meter run in 50.46 and claimed the 400-meter hurdles in 56.49.

Callahan was the anchor on the winning sprint medley alongside Jaxon Griffith, Kaleb Hansen and Rylan Stroner, as the unit clocked a time of 1:35.12.

The distance medley relay for the Lynx also placed first in 3:40.09 with Griffith, Hansen and Stroner being joined by Daniel Murillo-Delfin.

Gabe Thumma, Kaleb Draeger, Jack Barner and Arlen Lake were third in the 4×800, going 9:04.62.

Cole Nohrenberg finished fourth in the discus (130-1) and Beau Nohrenberg fifth in the shot put (45-2).

Griffith added a fifth in the 110 hurdles (15.89), Hansen was sixth in the 200 (23.78), Thumma sixth in the 800 (2:11.10), and Murillo-Delfin sixth in the 1,600 (5:00.49).

Ben Youngdale won the junior varsity 400 hurdles.
