Webster City boys edged by Clear Lake on the road

CLEAR LAKE — The Webster City boys soccer team suffered a tough 1-0 loss to Clear Lake here last Thursday night.

The Lions scored the lone goal of the match in the second half off a shot by Trevor Theobald, as Caleb Hall recorded five saves in net for Clear Lake.

For the Lynx, the loss was the first of the season, and the first since 2022 to the Lions.

“We obviously don’t hope for this result, but knew there were going to be some growing pains this year,” WCHS head coach Craig Signorin said. “Clear Lake has a very experienced roster, and our inexperience will lead to some mistakes. But I’m extremely proud of the boys’ effort. They battled all night.

“On the goal, we just chased instead of staying with our man. Edwin (Ramos Nolasco) made a great first save, but we didn’t follow up or react quick enough to give up a rebound. Something we will take a look at on the film and we will learn from.”

Webster City returned to action on Monday at home against Garner-Hayfield/Ventura. The Lynx now have a match with Charles City on Thursday.

Starting at $3.46/week.
