The South Hamilton girls golf lineup returns intact this spring.
That doesn’t mean every athlete is guaranteed to fill the same role they did a year ago under head coach Kathi Fisher.
A total of 22 players are on the Hawks’ roster for the 2026 campaign, which tees off Thursday — weather permitting — with an invitational in Grand Junction.
That gives Fisher plenty of options and a competitive situation moving forward.
“We have a lot of new golfers out this season, and the varsity leadership has been fantastic,” Fisher said. “I have several new players who will make a run at varsity.”
Arynn Luppes, Ava Corbin, Abby Richardson, Sydney Gelder, Sophie Nibe, Kaylen Trask and Grace Larson were the seven varsity regulars a year ago, and all of them are back to lead the pack.
“Their leadership has been great,” Fisher said of her veterans. “We’ve been able to get out and hit live, which has been a good way to see how the players can actually (swing and perform).
“The new golfers have a lot of potential, so competition will help give us a stronger overall team.”
The senior class is large, led by all of the returnees other than Larson — a junior. Brooklyn Doolittle and Claire Hewitt are the other seniors on the scorecard.
Fisher also sees a boost with the arrival of sophomore Emma Lammers.
“Emma is starting the season very strong,” Fisher said. “This is her first season out for golf, but she comes from a strong golfing family, which has helped her tremendously.”
Fisher hopes that as the season progresses, the group’s goals will become more attainable.
“We want to finish in the top three of the conference,” Fisher said. “Also, advance as (a program) and (push some) individuals (through) to the second round of regionals.
“We’d like to break 200 as a team as well.”
