Lynx run at Algona indoor meet
ALGONA — The Webster City boys track and field team concluded the indoor portion of the season here Tuesday by competing at the Brad Heitland Invitational.
The Lynx picked up a pair of first place finishes, as Jaxon Griffith won the 60 hurdles and the distance medley relay claimed gold.
Griffith, who clocked the fastest prelim time at 8.72, went 8.48 in the finals to win the race.
Rylan Stroner, Dane Hansen, Justin Callahan and Daniel Murillo-Delfin won the distance medley relay in a time of 3:45.30.
Callahan added a silver in the 800, finishing in 2:00.21.
The 4×800 relay of Kaleb Draeger, Aiden Wardell, Gabe Thumma and Arlen Lake placed second in 9:40.34 while the shuttle hurdle relay of Aiden Hrnicek, Zakiah Christensen, Gavin Wynkoop and Adison Punkham finished fourth.
Murillo-Delfin was fourth in the 400, Jack Barner placed seventh in the 1,600 and Beau Nohrenberg was seventh in the shot put.
“We had another great night of competition,” WCHS head coach Chad Hisler said. “We had great effort up and down the lineup and I am excited to get to see these guys compete outdoor.
“We had numerous Top-8 finishes. I like the balance we have between veterans and youth and I feel there is a lot of potential with this group.”
Webster City heads to Eagle Grove on Tuesday for the Umstead Relays.
