Lynx girls second at Lady Wolverine Invite
DIKE — The Webster City girls track and field team picked up a runner-up overall finish here Thursday at the Lady Wolverine Invitational hosted by Dike-New Hartford.
Dike-New Hartford was first with 105 points, as the Lynx racked up 83 to finish ahead of AGWSR for second in the 12-team field.
“We were fortunate to have another beautiful night to run,” WCHS head coach Tyler Mosbach said. “While we did not get off to the start that we would have hoped for in terms of making a desire to compete, the team was able to pick it up later to finish strong.
“Anytime you can finish in the Top-3 of a meet, it is something to be celebrated.”
Isabel Grossoehme recorded another win in the 400, going 1:00.51, while adding a runner-up finish in the 200 in 26.90.
Jakaela Cherry and Amanda Lahr each got second in field events, as Cherry won silver in the discus (109-2) and Lahr the same in the shot put (35-5.5). Cherry was also third in the shot put (33-5), with Avery Poppen adding a fifth in the discus (103-1).
Tessa Hansen placed third in the 100 hurdles (17.21), Briley VanDeer was fourth in the 100 hurdles (17.36) and fifth in the long jump (13-11), and Evie Davis (1:29.33) and Greta Kenville (1:34.56) took seventh and eighth in the 400 hurdles.
The sprint medley relay of Kali Hartnett, Isabel Weinschenk, Tessa Hansen and Grossoehme finished second in 1:52.02 while both the 4×100 and shuttle hurdle placed fourth.
Hartnett, Hansen, Weinschenk and Grossoehme ran the 4×100 in 51.77 while VanDeer, Weinschenk, Hartnett and Hansen comprised the shuttle hurdle.
Poppen won the junior varsity shot put.
