DOUBLE TROUBLE

It was a memorable day for Justin Callahan here Tuesday at the Lynx Relays.

After making his commitment to Simpson College official earlier in the day, Callahan won two individual events and anchored a pair of relays to victory for the Webster City boys track and field team.

Waverly-Shell Rock finished first overall, as Iowa Falls-Alden was second. Webster City placed third followed by Humboldt, Eagle Grove and St. Edmond.

Callahan won the 400-meter dash in 49.77 and clocked a time of 56.20 to place first in the 400-meter hurdles. Callahan broke his won previously-set school-record in the400.

The Lynx won the sprint medley behind Jaxon Griffith, Kaleb Hansen, Rylan Stroner and Callahan, clocking a time of 1:33.49. Stroner, Daniel Murillo, Hansen and Callahan went 3:27.27 to win the meet-ending 4×400 relay.

Murillo also won the 800-meter run, going 2:03.03.

Stroner added a second in the 400 for the Lynx behind Callahan, clocking a time of 50.36. The 4×800 relay of Murillo, Kaleb Draeger, Gabe Thumma and Arlen Lake finished second in 8:57.58.

The time by Stroner places him second in school history in the event behind only Callahan. It marked the first time the sophomore has raced the event.

Griffith was third in the 110 hurdles (16.20) and fourth in the 100 (11.59), with Thumma finishing fourth in the 1,600 in 4:59.02.

Gavin Wynkoop, Luke Blake, Ben Youngdale and Aiden Wardell placed third in the distance medley relay in 4:04.80. Zack Lahr placed third in the shot put with a throw of 44-4.5.

Jack Barner was fourth in the 1,600 (5:03.12), Wynkoop fourth in the 400 hurdles (1:05.11) and Beau Nohrenberg fourth in the shot put (43-7).

In junior varsity action, the 4×400 relay of Draeger, Wardell, Jax Olson and Everett Henderson placed first, as did the sprint medley relay of Israel Torres, Boston Farley, Blake and Dane Hansen and the distance medley relay of Henderson, Zakiah Christensen, Joseph Alexander and Colby Roest.

Peyton Weisberg won the junior varsity shot put and was second in the discus.
