OSAGE — The Webster City boys tennis team earned a dominating 7-2 victory over Osage here Monday afternoon.

Nathan Wardell, Blake Arjes, Max Anderson and James Elliott were all singles winners for the Lynx, who swept the three doubles matches.

“The boys have been working hard, been so coachable and shown so much improvement,” WCHS head coach Mark Fisher said. “It was good to see them get a win to validate some of that work.”

Wardell posted a convincing 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 1 position over Isaac Weber, with Arjes, Anderson and Elliott all winning in straight sets.

“I thought Nate played extremely well,” Fisher said. “He controlled his match, played smart tennis and did what he should do in a match like that.”

In doubles, Wardell and Sage Bock, Anderson and Arjes, and Vincent Bittner and Fabian Ferto-Holdgrafer were winners in doubles. Wardell and Bock, and Anderson and Arjes, won in straight sets while Bittner and Ferto-Holdgrafer picked up a forfeit.

“Blake and Max both some solid matches,” Fisher said. “Nate and Sage played really well at No. 1 doubles.”

Pryor Taylor, Erik Blankenship and Ferto-Holdgrafer all earned junior varsity singles wins.
