Webster City boys fare well at Clear Lake indoor
CLEAR LAKE — The Webster City boys track and field squad competed for the first time this spring here on Friday, finishing seventh at the competitive North Iowa Indoor Championships.
Host Clear Lake won the team championship, followed by Algona, Waverly-Shell Rock, Nevada and Iowa Falls-Alden.
For the Lynx, Daniel Murillo-Delfin claimed the 800-meter run, clocking a winning time of 2:06.83.
Jaxon Griffith was third in the 60 hurdles (8.53) and Justin Callahan added a bronze in the 400-meter run (50.81).
Beau Nohrenberg picked up a fifth in the shot put (46-0), Stroner was ninth in the 200 (24.55) and Aidan Wardell took 10th in the 1,600.
The 4×400 relay of Callahan, Rylan Stroner, Murillo-Delfin and Kaleb Hansen placed second, recording a time of 3:37.43. The shuttle hurdle relay was sixth, the 4×800 finished seventh and the 4×200 was ninth.
“It was a good start to our season and great to compete against someone else,” WCHS head coach Chad Hisler said. “I was happy with a number of performances and thought we competed hard and gave great effort.
“We had many quality performances up and down the lineup.”
Webster City heads to Algona on Tuesday for another indoor meet.
