Webster City girls tip off regionals at home
The Webster City girls open postseason play at home here Wednesday night when they host Boone.
Tip is set for 7 p.m.
With a win, the Lynx (8-13 overall) would advance to a Class 4A, Region 2 semifinal at No. 2 Dallas Center-Grimes (19-2) on Saturday night.
In the other 4A regional quarterfinal, Ballard faces Fort Dodge, with that winner heading to Pella. The regional final is scheduled for Feb. 24.
Webster City won two of its last three overall, including a 53-32 victory over Perry in the regular season finale.
Sophomore Evie Davis leads the team at 14.3 points and 11.4 rebounds per game, shooting 44 percent from the field. Classmate Jaylyn Bahrenfuss adds six points and over four rebounds. Senior Alivia Burns is averaging 5.5 points per contest.
For the Toreadors (5-16), Macy Chestnut is the top scorer at 11.6 points, followed by Whitney Chesnut (seven) and Brooke Weisbrod (4.2).
These two teams met back in November, with Webster City posting a 43-29 victory.
