Algona answers Webster City rally late to escape

The Webster City boys played one of their best quarters of the season here last Friday in the third vs. Algona.

Unfortunately, the Bulldogs responded, claiming a 47-43 victory over the Lynx in North Central Conference play.

Webster City erased a six-point deficit in the third by outscoring Algona, 21-8.

Jaxon Griffith scored nine points with six assists, Carter Mickelson had eight points, and William Ruby added seven.

Zack Lahr grabbed a team-high six rebounds, Grant Arends added five rebounds, two steals and two blocks, and Coyce Bertran chipped in four rebounds, three steals and two assists. Alex Staley had three assists.

On Monday, the Lynx fell to No. 7 (Class 3A) Clear Lake, 68-27. Griffith scored eight points with six rebounds, two assists and two steals. Ruby added five points and Mickelson scored three.

Bertran and Lahr each grabbed four rebounds.

Webster City hits the road to face Clarion-Goldfield/Dows on Friday night to conclude the week.
