Webster City wrestling squad continues with busy slate
PERRY — Webster City’s Eli Estlund earned a runner-up showing at the Perry Invitational on Saturday.
Estlund (14-10) reached the championship round at 190 pounds. He had pins in 1:02 and 1:37 for his first two matches.
Estlund then earned a 12-2 major decision over Jay Georgen of West Delaware in the semifinals. He lost a 4-1 decision to Kieran Polking of Carroll in the championship match.
Dawson Bertran (6-4) was fourth at 138. Bertran had two pins in the first rounds before losing in the semifinals and bouncing back with a 17-1 technical fall over Keegan Eisentrager of Eagle Grove in the consolation round.
Bertran lost the third-place match, 11-0.
Angel Ramirez (16-13) was sixth at 106. Ramirez had three falls. Ramirez had a first-period pin and two falls in the second.
Cody Elliott (17-7) was sixth at 215. Elliott won his quarterfinal match, 4-0.
On Thursday night, Webster City scored a victory over Spencer.
The Lynx dropped North Central Conference duals to Humboldt (46-27) and Iowa Falls-Alden (38-37) around the 48-35 win over the Tigers.
Bertran finished the triangular 3-0 with three falls. Ramirez, Gavin Wynkoop and Elliott also went 3-0.
Elliott earned two falls and Wynkoop one.
Ty Bingham and Ridge Berninghaus both picked up a pair of victories, including two falls for Berninghaus. Tariq Burton, Andrew Vaughn, Briggs Peppel, Estlund and Peyton Weisberg all won once.
Vaughn and Weisberg scored pins for the Lynx, who will return to Humboldt this Saturday for the North Central Conference meet.
