Webster City shot an efficient 51 percent as a team.

Senior Alivia Burns also reached double figures with 12 points. Sophomore Jaylyn Bahrenfuss and Burns led the Lynx defensively with five and four steals, respectively.

“The girls had a great week of practice and were ready to play,” WCHS head coach Marty McKinney said. “We were extremely efficient at both ends of the floor.”

Junior Tristyn Wright (nine points) and Bahrenfuss (eight) were also close to double figures in the rout.

Nine different Lynx players scored. Senior Ashlee Nydegger came off the bench and made three of her four field goals for six points. Sophomore Briley VandDeer contributed five.

Bahrenfuss and Isabel Weinschenk both dished out four assists. Webster City committed only three turnovers as a squad, while forcing the Comets (0-7) into 24.

“We were able to use our defense to create turnovers, which we turned into points,” McKinney said. “It was nice to start the 2026 portion of our schedule with a big win.”

The Lynx pitched a first-quarter shutout, leading 15-0 after the opening eight minutes of play. It was 40-6 at halftime.

Webster City returns to action on Tuesday at Clear Lake. The Lynx are at home on Friday versus Clarion-Goldfield/Dows.
