JEWELL — The South Hamilton basketball teams were swept by Roland-Story here Tuesday night in Heart of Iowa Conference play.
In the girls game, the Hawks fell, 60-35. Tessa Skartvedt had nine points and six rebounds, as Emma Lammers added six points.
Adelyn Trask had five points and three steals off the bench, as Allie Neuberger recorded five rebounds and three assists.
Signe Swenson chipped in four points and three boards while Cambrie Sloan grabbed four rebounds. Skartvedt also blocked two shots.
Roland-Story picked up a matching 60-35 decision in the boys contest, as Luke Martensen had a team-high 11 points for South Hamilton. Ben Swenson added nine points and eight rebounds.
After being down by just one early, the Hawks fell into a 15-point deficit in the second quarter.
“Halftime attitudes were positive and ready to go, but we struggled to start the third and couldn’t get the ball rolling,” South Hamilton boys head coach Jay Heeren said. “I don’t think we took a bad shot, but we continue to struggle making them.”
Swenson also had eight rebounds and four steals, as Martensen grabbed six rebounds and knocked down three 3-pointers. Jackson Olmstead added four steals, four rebounds and three assists.
Up next for the Hawks will be a doubleheader this Thursday in Eldora against South Hardin.
